Korean Hair and Scalp Care ODM, OEM and Private Label

Korean hair care sells on scalp health rather than on hair cosmetics, and that positioning changes the formula. A shampoo built as a scalp treatment is a different product from one built as a cleanser.

Overview

The surfactant system decides almost everything a user notices: lather, stripping, after-feel and whether the scalp reacts. Sulphate-free is a positioning choice with real formulation consequences, not a marketing swap.

Hair care runs at larger fill sizes than facial skincare, so bulk volumes are higher and per-unit economics work differently. This is a category where a low minimum order is harder to reach.

FAQ4 questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Sulphate-free or conventional surfactants?

Sulphate-free is gentler and positions well, but lathers less and costs more per unit. Users read low lather as “not cleaning”, so the formula has to compensate. It is a positioning decision with formulation consequences, not a drop-in substitution.

What makes Korean scalp care distinct?

The category is built around treating the scalp as skin rather than as a surface to clean. That shows in the actives, in the pH, and in how the product is positioned and used.

Why are minimums higher for hair care?

Fill sizes are several times larger than facial skincare, so the same unit count needs far more bulk. The bulk batch is usually the binding constraint in this category rather than the packaging.

What is the minimum order for shampoo?

MOQ depends on the formula, packaging format and component minimums. We quote per project. In most categories the packaging decision — stock components against custom tooling — moves the number further than the formula does. Small-batch production is possible: in some product categories a first run from around 3,000 units is workable. It differs product by product, so ask us about yours.
